Pura Vida Energy Systems, S.A. is a group of North Americans and Costa Ricans who are working together to provide cost-effective, high-quality solar energy solutions throughout all of Costa Rica. Kevin Wells, Chief Technical Officer
A certified electrical engineer in the United States, Kevin designs each of our systems to the exact requirements of the individual customer and installation. This custom approach helps to assure that every system operates at the highest efficiency possible by utilizing the most reliable components from the world’s most trusted manufacturers. His enthusiasm for the solar energy industry means that he is always watching for the newest technologies to add to the high-quality offerings provided by Pura Vida Energy Systems.
Cham Brownell, Chief Operating Officer
A 1986 graduate of Vanderbilt University, Cham has more than 20 years of business administration and management experience in customer service industries in the United States and Costa Rica. He has lived in Costa Rica for seven years with his wife Susan. Together they have created Casino Estela de Fuego and The Shack Restaurant before joining forces with Kevin Wells to open Pura Vida Energy Systems.
Nancy Wells, NABCEP Certified Design and Installation Director
Nancy offers nearly a decade of experience in environmental sciences including environmental impact and sustainability analysis. She is NABCEP certified to define all design and installation parameters for your system, insuring that every system we install is of the highest efficiency, quality and codes compliant in both the USA and Costa Rica. Her work as a teacher in the United States makes her well-suited for educating the public and our clients in the field of renewable energy and environmental impact as well as sustainable living and development.
Carolina Sanchez, Director of Marketing and Administration
Graduate with honors in 2013 from Universidad de Costa Rica with a degree in Mass Communications, Carolina is responsible for interfacing with the Costa Rican government to provide legal compliance under our renewable energy importation and fabrication licenses. Her experience in the US banking industry helps her to bridge the gap between North American and Central American members of the team while maintaining a high level of customer service to our clients.
Jeff Steffe, Uvita Area Sales and Service
Jeff earned an Agri-Business degree from Illinois State University in 1993 and spent the next 22 years managing multi-million dollar construction projects throughout the Chicagoland area. The diverse scope of his professional experiences make him exceptionally qualified to assess and plan for your solar energy needs. Jeff moved to Costa Ballena with his wife and son in 2015 where his company, Figure 8 Management, was born. He’s continuously inspired while helping his clients achieve their dreams of building a home in the jungle.
Brett Murdoch, Nosara Area Sales and Service
Brett has been a registered electrician for 25 years, and a Marine Engineer for 15. He has worked as a Chief Engineer on private mega yachts up to 220ft and has overseen builds and refits of these highly technical ships in that time. Recently he managed engineering projects on private islands in the Bahamas. He is certified in Permaculture design and has an electrical business Electropic based in Nosara where he moved to with his family in 2015.
Vanessa Sanchez, Architectural Consultant & Leonardo Garcia, Civil Engineering Consultant
Vanessa and Leo are currently completing studies at the Universidad de Costa Rica and provide Pura Vida Energy Systems with access to the next generation of Costa Rican innovators in the architectural and engineering community. We are proud to work with these young people who are eager to embrace and integrate renewable energy and green building practices into the future of design and building in Costa Rica.
